Note 115: Imagination

How many parsecs do we think we know? They spread out before us
with a warm center and reveal gorgeous limbs and projections.

When imaginations reach a limit, those who believe in limits
posit boundaries and the edge of the universe. To be right

about some things requires that there be an end.
When stymied one talks of universes as though they were

galaxies of a different magnitude. There may be such collections
but they aren’t designated by the term “universe” unless you

force it into a corset to serve your desires.
Is a galaxy separate from this… designation? I think not.

This collection of galaxies at a higher order of some measurable magnitude
is not “The Universe.” If there are many they are also together

part of something larger than those universes combined.  And that something
beyond but inseparable from them lies beyond the farthest reaches of concept

but not of the imagination.
